The Black Line Project (TBLP) is an experiment in creating a work that, in metaphorical terms, ‘makes the wind visible.’
How does one ‘see’ space? Through the distances that are alluded to, perhaps? TBLP consists of a series of black circular portals, normally captioned “ENTER” or “EXIT”, which are stationed in various places which the artist has encountered.
Is there a method or logic to where the rings are installed? No. The concept is: whatever works.
The portals are designed to invite the viewer into a space of their own imagining, or to exit from a similar space. Where did you come from? they may ask. Or where are you going to? If you listen close enough, you might hear them say: jump in.
